President Obama has signed the new Food Safety bill into law. One of the most critical factors affecting industry is that now FDA will be able to order recalls, not merely recommend them. This is FDA’s foot in the door – ordering recalls in the food industry. Look for people in Congress to propose giving FDA this same authority in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Stay tuned.
