"Evolution of Food and Drug Law
from the 19th Century to the 21st Century"

In character as Teddy Roosevelt, David will help your people better understand the history and
legacy of Food and Drug Laws and Regulations. Teddy will discuss what life
was like when he was growing up in New York City. (Note: TR was born in
1858 and served as President from 1901 to 1909.) This time period
coincides with the births of both the processed food industry and the
pharmaceutical industry. Teddy talks about the tragic day when both his wife and mother died,
just hours apart and in the same house, and only two days after his first
child was born. His mother succumbed to Typhoid Fever and his wife to Bright’s disease, neither of which is a problem today, thanks to advances
in pharmaceutical science. He will also share stories about the loss of
life to Malaria and Yellow Fever by soldiers in the Spanish-American War,
and by the workers as they were constructing the Panama Canal, one of his
proudest achievements as President. Teddy sent Dr. Walter Reed to the
Panama Canal Zone, where treatments were developed resulting in the
saving of lives from these tropical diseases. |
This speech is a tribute to those who have worked and are currently
working in the field of consumer protection in the FDA related industries.
This presentation reaches people at not only the intellectual level, but
the emotional level as well. Teddy reinforces the notion that customers in
this industry are often called patients, and trust us to make the right
decisions and never to compromise quality. Teddy’s introduction starts with a rousing rendition of The Stars and
Stripes Forever, the famous Sousa march. Teddy enters and walks through
the audience shaking hands with many of the participants as he makes his
way to the platform. In character as Theodore Roosevelt, David will regale your audience with
tales of his days as Rough Rider and President. Using anecdotes and
stories from Teddy’s life and career, David’s programs are educational and
inspiring, as well as entertaining. Your people will learn the key
tragedies that shaped Food and Drug law. Through these stories, people
discover how important their work is in protecting the American consumer.
Interaction with the audience is guaranteed through a Press Conference,
where your people can ask President Roosevelt questions. Using volunteers
from your group, David often has a “Secret Service” detail and members of
the “Press” on hand to ask interesting questions.
The program is often concludes with a riveting salute to the veterans and
military families in your audience, complete with inspiring music. Hearing
Teddy Live! will make your people stand up tall and be proud of their work
and accomplishments. David works closely with you in advance to integrate your key themes and messages into the
presentation to make it as relevant and meaningful as possible. An
award-winning platform speaker, David's programs are guaranteed to be
